Before I was a photographer, I was a Special Education teacher. For the past 8 years, I have had the privilege to stay home with my children. While I was a stay-at-home mom, my love for photography grew with each child and after several friends and acquaintances continually asked me to photograph their children and families Kim Sinclair Photography was born. I enjoyed taking pictures and meeting new clients, but my passion for teaching has never left me. The plan for me has always been to return to teaching when my baby goes to kindergarten which happens to be this Fall (don't get me started). I did consider doing photography full time, but I feel like God has called me to be a Special Education teacher. After going back and forth, I realized that I even missed the classroom and as much as I love photography, the majority of my time is spent behind a computer, editing, emailing, blogging, posting, updating websites, learning, networking, ordering, paying taxes, bookkeeping, etc. I am a people person and I thrive on relationships with others and face to face interaction. My favorite part of photography is the interaction I have with my clients and it is such a very small part of it. All this to say, I spent the past year working on renewing my certification and looking for a job. I spent my life every summer working at my dad's camp for mentally handicapped individuals (Camp Spearhead). This is where my love for those with mental disabilities began and I have always wanted to teach a class full of the people I have grown to love. Here's where the title of this blog comes in...
GOOD NEWS: I got a job!! I couldn't be more thrilled with the teaching position God has provided for me at a local high school.
BAD NEWS: Kim Sinclair Photography will be taking a back seat and I will not be scheduling appointments in the near future with my new teaching schedule. My photography email is disabled and my website will soon come down. This blog and my facebook page will, however, remain.
GOOD NEWS: While I am not taking on any new appointments, I am strongly considering a day of mini-sessions this Fall. It will be a digital package deal, but I will have more details on that later when I know my schedule.
I will continue to share things on my facebook page and maybe even here who knows (don't hold your breath, I don't have a great track record). I hope to be able to do more in the future, but I will take it as I go!
Thanks for all your support and allowing me to photograph your children and families. Here are a few from a session last week of this super cute little 6 month old boy, just in case you only came to this blog for the pictures...
